Having just obtained my Broker's license, I am now completing my 60 HRS of post licensing requirements. Last year I obtained my GRI designation. Perhaps if I had a mentor, I could have saved myself some time and money. Course 1 of the GRI is a 45 hr class which can fulfill two purposes: (1) It fulfills your post licensing requirement for your Sales associate license and (2) it qualifies you to go on with courses 2 & 3 to earn your GRI designation.
After you obtain your Broker's license, you are required to take two 30 HR classes to meet your post licensing requirements. If I had a mentor, he or she might have advised me to go and get my Broker's license FIRST, then proceed with Courses 2 & 3 of the GRI and at the end I would have not only my Broker's license but also my GRI designation.
Not having a mentor, I completed my GRI first, then my Broker's license and now I have to pay for and attend two 30 HR classes (which could have been Courses 2 & 3 of the GRI). The best lessons in life are those obtained the hard way.
